Still Giving Your Kids “Stone Age” Vitamins?

Fred Flintstone promotes stone age vitamins.Sweet, chewy “gummi” vitamin supplements are a hit with mommies and kids.  Kids like them because they’ve got cartoon characters and bright colors on the label and they taste just like candy.  Mommies like them because they believe they’re making up for any shortfalls in the diet they feed their kids (often heavy on fast foods and processed foods) and they don’t have to fight with their kids to take them.

Good nutrition is critical for children, who are in their growth years, when their bodies and brains are developing, and when they are especially susceptible to stress and infections.

Parents might be surprised to learn that many of these children’s vitamins aren’t nearly as beneficial for their kids as they think they are, because they contain synthetic and artificial ingredients.

Children’s vitamins with synthetic ingredients have the same achille’s heel as adult supplements with synthetic incredients:  They’re  missing the food matrix, the associated micronutrients, that vitamins found in nature come with.

Most nutrients like Chromium, beta-carotene and B-Complex are found in complex groups.  Amino acids, vitamine E, trace minerals and vitamin C all come in families.  It’s important that this family integrity is kept intact.  If it isn’t you are getting only the isolated vitamin and not all the other known and unknown factors, just as nature intended.

“The synthetic vitamins may be identical with naturally occurring substances or closely related.  The close relations, although useful in many ways, pose some problems in that they may have only a fraction, whether large or small, of the biological activity of the natural products…  Synthetic vitamins may perform some of the functions of their natural counterparts while being useless for others.  But what may be more important is the fact that synthetic vitamins, prepared from chemicals instead of nature, are frequently less active biologically than their natural counterparts, thereby reducing any beneficial effect they may have.” – Isobel Jennings of Cambridge University.  Continue reading Still Giving Your Kids “Stone Age” Vitamins?

Vitamins, Minerals, Radioactive Metals and the Indian Mustard Plant

The Indian mustard plant for Vibrant HealthStrange Connection

It turns out that nuclear waste heavy metals and good nutrition have something in common, the Indian mustard plant.

When the Russians were looking for a way to remediate all the radioactive material spread by the meltdown of the nuclear power facility in Chernobyl they tried phytoremediation.

Phytoremediation is the direct use of living plants for in situ removal, containment, degradation, or rendering harmless contaminants in soil.  Plants do this by taking up the materials in the soil by absorbing them through the root system.

The plant which Russian agronomists used was the Indian mustard plant (Brassica juncea) which has a prodigious absorption capacity.  The Indian mustard plant has been nicknamed “nature’s magnet” and has a unique ability to absorb metals and minerals from the soil it grows in.

Whereas the Russians used it to remove dangerous levels of lead and uranium, scientists are now using the Indian mustard plant to help boost our intake of metals and minerals often lacking in our Western diet.  Continue reading Vitamins, Minerals, Radioactive Metals and the Indian Mustard Plant

Polish Up Your Corporate Halo For More Business

man with haloI came across an interesting article by Ann Sieg this morning that asked the reader to consider what people see when they look at your business.  Here is a link to the video portion of the article.

Ask yourself what people see when they look at your company.  This is an important question to ask yourself because people often have a large number of choices available to them when looking for products, services, or a business opportunity.  When they look at your company do they see anything that tilts the scale in your favor?

What criteria ultimately influence your customers in making their final choice?

With women in particular, the number one criteria, at 85% in a poll, is the desire to leave the world in a better place.  This information is significant when we consider that buying power is weighted with women and that their buying power increases every year.  Continue reading Polish Up Your Corporate Halo For More Business
