Popular diet plans for vibrant health   Okay, you’ve made the decision to lose some weight, maybe a little, maybe a lot.  If you’re typical, you’ve dieted before.  At any given time, nearly 50% of American women and 25% of American men are on a diet.

A survey of 4,000 women by the Society for Women’s Health Research found that, on average, women go on two diets a year with each diet lasting about five weeks.  This means that by the time she’s 70 years old, the typical woman has been on 104 diets and spent a total of 10 years counting calories.  41% of the women surveyed said they felt they were constantly on a diet.

One-fourth of the women in the survey admitted that despite their efforts to lose weight, they didn’t lose anything at all.  The average woman has failed at 10 diets in her lifetime.

There are so many different diets out there that it’s difficult to determine which one is the best for you.

Advertisements on television feature claims to melt the fat off and show before and after pictures of men and women who have been successful.  They all look miserable and desperate in their “before” picture and bubbly and cheerful in their “after” picture. While many of the individuals who tell themselves that they need to lose weight do need to lose weight, not all do.  So, the question that many ask themselves is “do I really need to lose weight?”  If that is a question that you have asked yourself before, you’ll find this article useful.

Among the indications that you may need to lose weight is if you are obese.  Many individuals do not realize that there is a difference between being overweight and being obese.

While different healthcare professionals have different definitions for obese, it is often said that those who are thirty or forty pounds overweight are obese.  If you are obese, you should be worried not only about your appearance, but your health as well.  Obesity has been linked to multiple health complications, including the early onset of death.

Another method of measuring overweight and obesity is the Body Mass Index (BMI).  BMI is a measure of body fat based on a person’s weight and height. The BMI chart shows four ranges: underweight (Below 18.5), healthy (18.5 – 24.9), overweight (25.0 – 29.9) and obese (30.0 and Above).

Wearing an Ipod while exercisingMost people think that lifting weights, or doing those crunches, will help them lose those extra pounds of fat and that they will get the tight, toned  and packed abs they have always been dreaming of.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in going to the gym and curling and crunching yourself to get tighter abs and a tucked stomach.

 But before you start with the crunches here are a few things you have to start before you start going to the fitness center. Cut out that fat altogether from your diet. Then do more stretching, and third is do more cardio workouts.

This is the type of advice that might be provided by a personal trainer who could also provide you with a fitness routine designed to achieve your goals.

Oprah Says “I’m Never Dieting Again”.

YoyoThe topic of a recent episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show was dieting.  Oprah is well known for her infamous yo-yo dieting issues, consistently gaining and losing weight for years.

This is a problem shared by many Americans.  25% of American men and 45% of American women are on a diet on any given day.  Their weight goes up and down like a yo-yo as they go on and off different diets.  When they stop eating to go on a crash diet, they shed both fat and lean muscle as they “starve” themselves into shape.  Then as they relax their diet and fall back into old habits their weight increases.  Before they know it, they’ve gained back all the weight they lost and added on more.

The Real Truth About Interval Training And How It Can Help You

You are committing a tragedy against time if you are wasting it with cardiovascular routines. There’s a good path to a healthy, lean body that doesn’t include cardio at all. Of course, you won’t be able to go as slow and easy. It’s a dishonour that so many people at the gym spend most of their time doing aerobic workouts since they’re not getting the results they want. The real way to get rid of all that blubber you’re dealing with is to workout in interval training.

Intervals are nothing less than intense periods of exercise alternating with easier recovery periods. Research has shown intervals are a more  final result ive at fat burning than any other approach to exercise.  The high intensity component of an interval is going to last between one and two minutes. Once you complete that part, you recover at an easier rate for about a minute and a half.

You’d think that people doing cardio would lose fat. After all, exercise is exercise no matter how slow it is. So it sounds really nice, but the problem is that in practice it doesn’t help at all with losing fat. It’s amazing how that people who do cardiovascular exercises every day for hours every week and they still have stomach fat to spare.
