People start their network marketing business with a dream, whether it’s a dream of extra part time or full time money, paying off their debts, time freedom, being able to work from home, reaping the rewards of their own efforts, more family time, or a desire to provide a valuable service to others. Those are some of the reasons I started in my network marketing business.
Over 15 million people in the U.S. are engaged in network marketing. That’s a lot of people.
But the number of people engaged in network marketing is far exceeded by the number of people who used to be network marketers. What happened to these people and will they ever be back again? I guess it depends upon their memories of their previous network marketing experience.
What started me thinking about this issue was my kids’ pestering last week to camp out in our backyard.
We used to go on family camping outings pretty frequently, but it’s been several years since the last time.
Obviously fond memories of how much they enjoyed our previous campouts led my kids to want to enjoy the experience again by camping out in the back yard.
Many network marketers have similar fond memories of their first exciting experiences in business when they had extra income, met new friends, and enjoyed what they were doing. They were passionate about their opportunity to escape from the drudgery of their day job as an employee and about the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
But for whatever reason the bloom on some network marketers’ rose fades. They stop working their business and give up on pursuing the dreams they had when they first started.
They fold their tent and put it back in the closet, so to speak, along with their hopes and dreams. They haven’t thrown the tent away though, perhaps keeping it handy in case they want it again.
Maybe they’ll take their network marketing tent out again when, just like my kids, they remember the excitement and enjoyment of their previous experience. Maybe they’ll remember why they once enjoyed network marketing and be compelled to do it again.
My kids sure enjoyed their campout. It took them awhile to figure out how to put the tent up it had been so long, but they figured it out after awhile along with some guidance they found online.
Our tent is an eight person tent, but your network marketing tent can be as big as you want.
If it’s been some time since you worked your network marketing business, it may be time to take your network marketing dreams out of storage and enjoy yourself again.
There are a lot of different camping tents available just as in network marketing there are a lot of different companies. If you’re considering network marketing, make sure you get the right “tent” for your purpose. In other words, evaluate the company, the company’s history, the products you’ll be marketing, and whether they are a match with your values. Can you be passionate about this company and it’s products?
With network marketing it’s also a good idea to make sure you’re in the right “tent”. Don’t go stumbling around the ”campground” and hop in with the wrong group of people. In other words, now that you’ve found the right MLM company, make sure that you feel you can work with your other team members and your upline leaders and that they have a track record of success. You don’t want to be with a group of people where nobody knows how to start a fire.
You can enjoy success in network marketing just like camping. All you have to do is to have the desire, take action, and make sure you’ve got the right tent. A good mentor can help you make your outing successful and enjoyable.
