Treadmills are by far one of the best ways to burn fat.  Treadmills have become such a main stream item in the fitness industry that you can find them at any gym, hotels, resorts, and in most people’s homes.

If a treadmill is used properly it can be one of the most effective means of burning body fat, along with having the ability to give you a great workout.  The increase in technology has made treadmills so advanced that you can vary speed, incline and resistance .

By integrating High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with a treadmill you will increase your body’s ability to release a natural and healthy fat burning hormone called Human Growth Hormone (HGH).

When we are young, our bodies produced large amounts of this hormone.  As we get older our bodies quit producing as much hormone and start to slow down our metabolism.  These are the two main factors for gaining weight in our older years.

Below I’ve given some examples of how you can incorporate HIIT with your treadmill.

A very simple HIIT workout:

1. You will want to warm up on the treadmill for about 5 minutes.  This can be done at a slow to moderate pace (about 3.5 or 4.0 on most treadmills).
2. Once you have completed your warm up, you will want to increase the speed to a jogging pace for at least one minutes (about 7 or 8 on most treadmills).
3. After the one minute, you will want to slow down to a moderate speed for another minute.

Which Diet Is Best For You?

Popular diet plans for vibrant healthOkay, you’ve made the decision to lose some weight, maybe a little, maybe a lot.  If you’re typical, you’ve dieted before.  At any given time, nearly 50% of American women and 25% of American men are on a diet.

A survey of 4,000 women by the Society for Women’s Health Research found that, on average, women go on two diets a year with each diet lasting about five weeks.  This means that by the time she’s 70 years old, the typical woman has been on 104 diets and spent a total of 10 years counting calories.  41% of the women surveyed said they felt they were constantly on a diet.

One-fourth of the women in the survey admitted that despite their efforts to lose weight, they didn’t lose anything at all.  The average woman has failed at 10 diets in her lifetime.

There are so many different diets out there that it’s difficult to determine which one is the best for you.

Advertisements on television feature claims to melt the fat off and show before and after pictures of men and women who have been successful.  They all look miserable and desperate in their “before” picture and bubbly and cheerful in their “after” picture.

I wish they’d publish the name and telephone numbers of these people so that I could check up on them a couple of years later!  Maybe I’d ask them to send me a picture.  I suspect they’d be looking more like their “before” picture than their “after” picture.  Odds are that they’re already searching for a different diet to try.

Like any other day, tomorrow is going to be a day for exercise for fat loss, and since you are exercising on a regular basis, a few drinks of alcohol won’t really hurt anything, right?  Before you decide to rush out to the local bar, there are a few things below that you should think about before you make your choice about going out to drink some alcohol.

Research has proven that even small amounts of alcohol will increase muscular endurance and the output of strength, although these types of benefits are very short lived.  After 20 minutes or so, the problems will begin to surface.  All of the negative side effects attached to alcohol will easily outweigh any possible benefits that it can have. 

No matter how you look at it, alcohol is a poison that can really harm your body if you aren’t careful.

Athletes who participate in competitive events at the professional, college, and even the high school level are always looking for a performance edge that will allow them to perform at their peak potential.

The same is true of ordinary individuals who enjoy participating in competitive sports or athletic events like tennis, racquetball, pick-up basketball games, company baseball leagues, or charitable walks and runs.

Participating in sports can be highly competitive, and there is always a desire to be just a little bit better.

Even those involved in other non-competitive physical exercise or fitness activities like bodybuilding, aerobic exercise, or rock-climbing are interested in maximizing and enhancing their performance.  In solo exercise like these they are competing with the person they were yesterday, seeking to progress a little farther every day on the way to their personal goals.

Many athletes try to find supplements, techniques, or special equipment that helps them perform at their maximum.  These are sometimes called “ergogenic aids”.  The term ergogenic means to enhance athletic performance by improving energy efficiency, production, or control during exercise. 

Nutrition ergogenic aids include such things as vitamin and mineral supplements, extra protein, electrolytes, carbohydrates, creatine, fish oil, bee pollen, flax oil, and glucosamine/chondroitin.

According to many experts nutrition plays a key part in athletic performance.  It is the position of Dietitians of Canada, the American Dietetic Association, and the American College of Sports Medicine that physical activity, athletic performance, and recovery from exercise are enhanced by optimal nutrition.  They suggest that an appropriate selection of food and fluids, timing of intake, and supplement choices be made for optimal health and exercise performance.

13 Ways to Soothe Sore Shin Splint Legs

It is important to have the right footwear, that is cushiony insole.  If you are doing exercises or aerobics, it is important to get a mat, or something padded and not uneven setting. Always stretch your entire body but, especially your lower legs.


Normally if you are sore the next day after a work out, you are encouraged to continue working out, as it eases the soreness. This method does not work for shin splint.  If you experience pain in the lower leg, continuing to work out or walk and run will only make it worse. You should stay off of your feet for awhile until the pain recedes.
